ANAS KHAN | HUMAN BIOMECHANICS SPECIALIST 3 | Owner of MODIV BIOMECHANICS

As a dedicated Functional Patterns practitioner, I specialize in biomechanics and movement optimization to help clients overcome physical limitations and reach their full potential. I started my professional journey in the fitness industry in 2014 after graduating from the Health, Wellness and Fitness Program at Mohawk College, completing my co-op as Experiential Learning and Anatomy Technologist. I then started working as a Personal Trainer at Movati Athletic.

In my time as a PT 9/10 of clients came to me with some sort of pain or physical limitation. They joined the gym and wanted a trainer to guide and “motivate” them because staying physically active and fit had always been a struggle. I came to realize, people aren’t necessarily lazy. Moving just didn’t ever feel good, they lacked energy, and typically exercise lead to more pain, stiffness and stress. I tried every “evidence based” methodology I could find with my clients , but with limited results. I started to incorporate some Functional Patterns in 2016, however my full turning point wasn’t until a car accident in 2017 which left me with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Frozen Shoulder, and SI joint pain.

I attempted Physio, massage, structural integration, experiencing the same thing my clients had; limited results. At this point I decided to go all in with Functional Patterns as I could no longer deny the results . I bought the 10 week online course, and within 8 weeks I was experiencing changes in my body like never before. I decided to become certified in 2018 and go haven’t looked back. In 2019 I decided to go independent and started Modiv Biomechanics, the vessel that would bring Functional Patterns to the Greater Toronto Area. I’ve been living pain free and moving better than I ever have as I get older.

Whether you're seeking relief from chronic pain or aiming to elevate your physical performance, my mission is to guide you to move with purpose and achieve lasting results.

ISABEL ALMEID | HUMAN BIOMECHANICS SPECIALIST 1

I’ve been physically active for a good part of my life, working jobs that require physical labor to attaining my 3rd degree brown belt from Kaizen Martial Arts. I started to develop pain in my shoulder, upper-back, hip and ankles, that physical therapy just wasn’t helping with. Within a few weeks of applying the Functional Patterns 10 week online course I started seeing massive progress.

To me Functional Patterns is a method that allows you to constantly grow not only in physical but mental strength. It allows you to identify which habits are holding you back from optimal health and provides the tools and guidance to replace them with ones that will.

Which is why I want to help guide people in their FP journey since doing so will not only help me learn new things about my habits, but also because it means we will have more problem solvers and people working at their full potential in a way society.

AHSAN LIAQUAT|HUMAN FOUNDATIONS PRACITITONER

Staying active has always been huge for me. From engaging in multiple sports to leading my high school as sports captain, I was always pushing my body to its limits. But in 2019, everything took a turn. A car accident left me with multiple fractures in my thoracic spine. For 3.5 years, I was in relentless pain. I visited various specialists such as orthopedics, chiropractors, physio, acupuncturists, even Chinese Tit Tar therapy. And all I was offered were short-term solutions for a long-term problem, e.g. opioids or surgery. None of it felt right. By 2022, I’d reached the end of my rope, and that’s when I found FP. It was my last hope.

FP didn’t just help me move better; it completely reshaped me, mentally and physically, and built me up structurally from the inside out. With determination & this deeper understanding of biomechanics, I’m dedicated to helping my clients avoid the pain and frustration I went through. I want them to have real solutions, not just a quick fix. I’m also enrolled in the Human Biomechanics Specialist (HBS) Certification for April 2025, so I can keep learning and keep giving back.

ALEX KEARY | HUMAN FOUNDATIONS PRACITITONER

I’ve played many different sports and worked out in a variety of ways. I became a personal trainer after coaching many friends online in powerlifting and doing it just for the fun of it. Years after being a powerlifter I become a personal trainer and developed a strong desire to help people with their health and fitness. I found my home in FP when I realized the concepts and tools I was using as a personal trainer were insufficient at achieving the results I was trying to get. I wanted to get my clients out of pain, improve their posture and give them confidence that they can still be athletic as they age. I saw the results that FP was getting and thought I couldn’t deny it any longer and had to research more; for my sake and for the sake of my clients.

I have since realized that the superficial goals we pick to motivate us to start working out have been force fed to us by an industry that doesn’t really care about helping people. When you start to feel the effects of focusing on improving your ability to stand, walk, run and throw you realize that nothing else makes as much sense as FP. It feels better in the moment and has been proven to be more effective in the long term. It’s an exciting journey to be on and my mission is to help people with starting their own FP journeys all while become pain-free and more athletic in the process.
